It is with great sadness that we share that Dr Taffy Jones passed away peacefully on the 30th of December 2023.

Taffy has been a dedicated Fellow since 1978 and was a significant contributor to the College. He was College President from 1996-1998 and was awarded the College Medallion in 2002, the highest honour award for outstanding service to the College and profession.

Taffy was an outstanding medical leader who had a profound impact on Australian Healthcare. His contribution to the field of medicine has been widely recognised with receiving multiple awards for outstanding service to medicine.

Awards and Key Achievements:
 
2000- Public Service Medal- Outstanding Service through healthcare in Victoria
2005- AMA Victoria Gold Medal
2008- Member of the Order of Australia- Services to Medicine particularly Health Services Management and standards of Patient Care
2009- Australian Council on Healthcare Standards honour with the highest award for outstanding achievement in the promotion of quality and safety in healthcare services

Taffy’s funeral service will be held at Trinity Chapel on Tuesday the 16th of January 2024 at 1.30pm. The service will also be livestreamed via Lonergan & Raven Funeral directors, the link can be found here.

We offer our greatest sympathy to Taffy’s family and all who are impacted by this loss.
