Where you’ll be working

Coffs Harbour Clinical Network is a highly capable regional health service, within the Mid North Coast Local Health District. It provides high quality services at the Level 5 Coffs Harbour Base Hospital, as well as through community-based services and excellent rural facilities at Dorrigo, Macksville and Bellingen.

The Network offers a wide range of services, including comprehensive cancer care, clinical trials research, advanced diagnostics, interventional cardiology, intensive care, emergency medicine, trauma, orthopaedics, anaesthesia, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as a range of medical and surgical subspecialties.

The Coffs Harbour Health Campus has a strong relationship with the University of NSW and Southern Cross University and all four hospitals have links to training networks in Sydney and Newcastle

About the Role

The role, which is part of the senior executive team, has operational and professional leadership responsibilities for medical services, and leadership of clinical governance and service development across the four hospitals in the region. The appointee will collaborate with, and be professionally supported by, the LHD-wide medical services and clinical governance teams.

About You

The role would suit an experienced clinician with solid experience of clinical management, with a clear vision of excellence in care, ideally a mid-career or senior specialist. Applicants with a relevant fellowship would automatically be eligible for Senior Specialist status.

Selection Criteria:

    1. General Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) and vocational registration in Medical Administration, Associate Fellowship of RACMA, and/or working towards Fellowship. Or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
    2. Significant experience and effective performance in a senior leadership role in a complex health organisation.
    3. Proven capacity to manage and lead innovative organisational change with a diverse range of stakeholders.
    4. Demonstrated experience, understanding and ability to lead clinical governance, clinical risk management and continuous quality improvement management strategies within a complex operating environment.
    5. Demonstrated high capability in communication, complex negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, incorporating the ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry, the community and various professional groups.
    6. Demonstrated experience and ability to lead, persuade and negotiate at a senior management level to achieve a set of objectives, maintain organisational strategy and to ensure alignment with operational activity.
    7. Experience managing a large and diverse team, developing effective culture and engagements, inspiring commitment and developing capability and capacity.
    8. Current drivers’ license with eligibility to drive in NSW.
