About the Role

Reporting to the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital General Manager with a professional reporting line to the Executive Director of Medical Services the Operational Director of Medical Services (DMS) is a key member of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital (WWBH) and Sector East senior management team responsible for enabling the safe, effective and efficient delivery of medical services.

Your key responsibilities will focus on leadership of the Medical Workforce, strategic direction and operational management. The Operational Director of Medical Services is also accountable for meeting safety, service, quality education and accreditation requirements. Leading and supporting a medical workforce consisting of more than 300 senior and junior medical officers.

About You

  1. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) or other appropriate specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award that is additionally supported by post graduate qualifications with substantial experience as a DMS in a large base or referral hospital RACMA Trainees with substantial relevant experience and substantial progress towards fellow due are welcome to apply, appointments without fellowship will be as per the Medical Superintendent Award.
  2. Demonstrated extensive experience of clinical leadership and management at an executive/senior level inclusive of medical administration, medical workforce, medical ethics, clinical teaching and leadership and change management, including managing health financial, activity and reporting systems.
  3. Demonstrated high capability in communication, complex negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, incorporating the ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry, the community and various professional groups.
  4. Demonstrated understanding and ability to lead clinical governance, clinical risk management and continuous quality improvement management strategies within a complex operating environment.
  5. Proven ability to design and lead change initiatives with the purpose of enhancing the delivery of care in a public health setting.
  6. Hold a current Drivers Licence and the ability to travel regularly for work purposes.
