CQ Health (part of Queensland Health) is responsible for the delivery of public health services across Central Queensland. We serve a growing population of approximately 250,000 people and employ more than 3,700 staff, treating more than 700,000 patients each year. Our health service has a diverse geographic footprint, ranging from regional cities to remote townships in the west and beachside communities along the coast.
About the Role
The Executive Director, Medical Services (EDMS) will play a central role in shaping and delivering the 10-year vision and strategy for the Hospital and Health Service (HHS), focusing on the future of clinical services. The EDMS will provide medical leadership and strategic advice to the executive team and Board, emphasizing the importance of clinical partnerships with other HHSs, the Department of Health, private hospitals, and primary care providers in Central Queensland.
The EDMS will lead the medical workforce across all CQHHS business units, with oversight provided through three Director Medical Services (DMS) roles in Rockhampton, Gladstone/Banana, and Central Highlands. They will ensure services adhere to contemporary practices and uphold high professional and ethical standards. Additionally, the EDMS will focus on engaging and supporting the medical workforce to achieve the strategy’s success
About You
- An MBBS or equivalent to enable registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and Fellowship with an Australian Medical Specialist College is mandatory.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) is highly desirable for this role.
- The ability to work in a clinical capacity (0.2 FTE) in your recognised specialty with the CQHHS would be desirable.
- Current ALS certification and enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies is mandatory.
- Executive-level experience and capacity in strategically leading a large and diverse medical workforce in a rural setting.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in workforce policy and processes for improving clinical practice standards and commitment to quality improvement in a health care environment.
- Proven capacity to successfully develop and foster strong and enduring professional internal and external partnerships, relationships and networks.
