Where you’ll be working

Located on the land of Kamilaroi/Gomeroi/Gamillaray people Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is the second largest hospital in HNE Health and the key referral hospital for much of the north western region of HNE Health.  The newly redeveloped hospital was opened in 2015 with state of art facilities across emergency, maternity, paediatrics, theatres, intensive care, and coronary care, medical and surgical specialities, with 348 treatment spaces.

The hospital has five operating theatres currently in operation and is supported by a modern Cancer Centre, sophisticated diagnostic services, along with comprehensive community and outpatient services.  Tamworth is home to a locally based helicopter retrieval service and is the only NSW regional trauma centre north of Newcastle.  The Peel Sector of Hunter New England Local Health District includes the sites of Gunnedah, Manilla, Barraba, Walcha and Quirindi.

About the Role

Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking to appoint a Director of Medical Services, responsible for the provision of expert management of Medical Services and Medical Workforce for Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital and the Peel Sector. As a member of the Peel Executive Team, you will contribute to the overall leadership and management of medical services in Tamworth Hospital and the wider Peel Sector, ensuring patients experience the best possible care, safely and compassionately, whilst enabling staff to work in a safe, healthy and culturally sensitive environment.

About You

You will provide leadership for all medical matters, with a particular focus on coordination of clinical services, quality and safety of clinical services, performance management of junior and senior medical staff in addition to workforce matters to ensure the medial workforce is operating to its full potential. This position is responsible for ensuring a commitment by all medical staff to Excellence, Every Patient, Every Time facilitating effective communication to develop a positive culture.
