Where you’ll be working
Goulburn Valley (GV) Health is a Regional Public Hospital and Health Service for the Hume Region of Victoria, with main campuses located at Shepparton, Tatura and Rushworth. The main campus in Shepparton is the major acute referral hospital for the sub region. Additional sites are also located in Shepparton, Seymour, Benalla and Wodonga. GV Health provides a range of acute, subacute, mental health, aged, primary health and community services across the Goulburn Sub-Region within the Hume Region.
About the Role
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has a broad role across GV Health’s clinical governance systems and service
delivery. The CMO reports directly to the Chief Executive and is an integral part of the Executive leadership
at GV Health.
The CMO also plays a critical role in operationalising GV Health’s clinical governance framework and quality
improvement systems while enabling the ongoing evolution of these processes. A key responsibility and
accountability for the CMO is ensuring an effective credentialing and scope of practice system and related
processes are in place and that all medical and dental staff have current appointments and appropriate scope
of practice.
About You
Essential Skills & Attributes:
- Registered Medical Practitioner with Medical Board of Australia with post graduate qualifications such as FRACMA, MBA or health services management
- Demonstrated experience in leading and applying clinical governance frameworks and related processes including credentialing, scope of practice and clinical risk management
- Demonstrated experience leading accreditation processes and applying quality improvement practices
- Significant experience at an executive level in a healthcare environment, with a sound understanding clinical service delivery and preferably a clinical background in either acute, mental health or aged care services
- Extensive experience in effectively managing junior and senior medical staff , including knowledge of accreditation requirements and liaison with universities
- Analytical, problem solving skills for leading the delivery of successful strategies and related solutions to complex service delivery and performance issues
- Experience in clinical service planning and policy and protocol development within a multidisciplinary setting with a patient centred focus
- Demonstrated people management skills, the ability to drive cultural change and commitment to working across the organisation to break down organisational silos
- Demonstrated influencing, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills conducive to working collaboratively with colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to uphold and model the GV Health values
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check prior to offer of employment
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to utilise Microsoft Office suite, and financial management information systems
