RACMA is pleased to announce Mr Cris Massis has been appointed as the College’s new Chief Executive Officer, commencing 14 February 2022.
Cris joins RACMA with extensive leadership experience in the healthcare industry. Currently a Director of Saint George Consulting, Cris has been consulting across strategy, governance and management within the healthcare sector. Prior to this, he was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Advent Health and was the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) for eight years. During his tenure with APA, Cris increased membership from 40 per cent to 60 per cent of the market, developed and implemented three strategic plans, advocated successfully to government for the group and eliminated the organisation’s debt.
Cris is very well placed to lead the College as it continues to work towards its mission to educate, train, and promote the skills of specialist medical leaders and managers, enabling our Members and College to influence and lead high quality, safe health services and systems. He has in depth strategic leadership experience, knowledge and governance exposure of high performing, effective and relevant member-based organisations.
Outgoing Chief Executive Melanie Saba finishes with the College on Thursday 13 January 2022 and in the interim Angela Chan, Director of Education, will assume the acting Chief Executive role.
During her tenure, Melanie has driven a Member focus for the College office, developed a new strategic plan, introduced online services for Members, established the BMJ Leader as the scientific journal of the College and promoted the College internationally through relationships with the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare and the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine. She has strengthened the College’s financial position including the establishment of a Corpus, implemented structured support for all of the College jurisdictional committees, guided the review of the RACMA Constitution with the Constitution Working Group, was instrumental in the College partnering with the Advancing Women in Healthcare Leadership large-scale research project and managed the seamless transition of the College Examinations to online delivery.
