Where you’ll be working

The Richmond network of facilities, part of the Northern NSW Local Health District includes Lismore Base Hospital, Ballina District Hospital, Casino & District Memorial Hospital as well as Kyogle, Bonalbo, Nimbin and Urbenville Multi-Purpose Services.

Lismore Base Hospital is a regional referral, Level 5 base hospital providing a wide range of health services to residents in Northern NSW. These services include a state-of-the-art Operating Theatre Suite, Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit, General Medical and Surgical Wards, Womens Care Unit, Paediatric Unit, Renal Unit, Emergency Department, Medical Imaging department and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. Mental Health Inpatient Units, the North Coast Cancer Institute, Pathology, Pain Management Clinic, and Specialist Outpatient Clinics are also located on the Lismore Base Hospital campus. Lismore Base Hospital multi-million-dollar redevelopment has recently been completed.

About the Role

The primary objective of the Director Medical Services is to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of the range of Medical Services as negotiated with the Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD).

Upon appointment the DMS will recruit to a staff specialist Deputy Director Medical Services position.

About You

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Medical Administrator, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways, or working toward such eligibility, or relevant qualifications and experience
  2. Demonstrated leadership experience and achievement as a Senior Manager in a Health Service, including strategic planning, medical workforce planning and management, and change management
  3. Demonstrated capability to effectively manage medical administration departments within similar health care organisation
  4. Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of clinical governance and clinical risk management and demonstrated capacity to implement and maintain continuous quality improvement management strategies
  5. Sound understanding of contemporary Health Service issues and the proven ability to prioritise and effectively manage resources to address these issues
  6. Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, incorporating the ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry, the community and various professional groups
  7. Valid unrestricted drivers licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment
  8. Ability to participate in Executive on call roster
