Samarina Musaad (FRCPA FAACB MPH AFRACMA) is a Chemical Pathologist who is the Clinical Director for Chemical Pathology and Point of Care Testing (POCT) at Te Toka Tumai Auckland District, Lead for Chemical Pathology and POCT at Waitemata (Te Toka Tumai and Waitemata being two of the three large metro districts in the North of Aotearoa New Zealand) and for POCT in rural Northland District. She is the Deputy Chair of the NZ POCT Advisory Group, Clinical Lead for the Northern Region POCT Network, and the AACB Corresponding Member for the IFCC POCT Committee.
Dr Musaad previously served as a member of the board of examiners for both the RCPA and the AACB and is a previous Chair of the NZ Branch of the AACB. She is also an ex-chair of the POCT Task Force in the RCPA. She is heavily involved in governance, continuing education and design and implementation of quality, equitable service delivery programmes.
Dr Musaad is a strong advocate for person-centred care, regulation of medical devices in NZ, and clinical governance in the pathology sector.
