A/Prof Thomas has worked passionately to further the growth and standing of the College as a peak body for medical leadership, policy advocacy, influence and professionalism. With over fifteen years’ experience as a senior healthcare executive in both public and private sectors, across regional and rural health and tertiary metro healthcare services, he has built a reputation as a visionary and transformational leader with strong clinical engagement delivering results in operational and governance arenas in health.
His commitment to the future and growth of the College are demonstrated in his breadth and depth of contributions to RACMA, including College Censor, Chair of MWPASC, Member of PAC, CPDPC, NSW Jurisdictional Committee and CPD coordinator. Peter is a dedicated educator, as faculty member for LFC and MFC, and preceptor and mentor to candidates and new Fellows, contributing broadly to deliver our professional and leadership values both on a personal and system-wide level.
Peter ‘s strengths as a collaborator with an academic focus have resulted in multiple contributions and representations on behalf of RACMA to State and Federal governments and in the policy space, he has worked in an advisory capacity in state and national roles, advocating for health policy and system change both within the health system and on behalf of RACMA.
His current focus is on strategic workforce development plan for RACMA whilst making broader contributions to RACMA’s strategic growth and development, serving on the Board to help build a diverse, inclusive and respectful culture, continuing the momentum and forward strategic drive for our College.
