SA Health is committed to a health system that produces positive health outcomes by focusing on health promotion, illness prevention and early intervention. We will work with other government agencies and the community to address the environmental, socioeconomic, biological and behavioural determinants of health, and to achieve equitable health outcomes for all South Australians.
Eyre & Far North Region provides clinical and support services to the communities who live within their respective regions. They face the challenges of providing high quality health care to relatively small populations in rural and remote areas far from the nearest Tertiary Hospital. These communities are culturally diverse and include remote aboriginal communities. The Regions face all the challenges of SA Health with the added challenges of access and availability of workforce and services in rural and remote areas.
You will be accountable to the Executive Director of Medical Services for supporting the medical administrative portfolios. This will involve overseeing the delivery of safe, high quality medical care, including clinical governance and audit processes. You will assist with the recruitment, orientation and management of medical staff and medical service contracts, ensuring junior medical staff achieve appropriate competencies as required by the specialist colleges, the SA Medical Education and Training Health Advisory Council and the Medical Board of Australia. You will support the Health Network’s role in medical training programs, in conjunction with relevant universities and metropolitan health units. Giving advice on medical service matters as appropriate, you will participate in the implementation and progression of the Clinical Governance Framework. Please note that this is an administration and not clinical role.
You will work closely with an experienced EDMS who is a Fellow of the College of Medical Administrators and supported by a committed executive team and will receive excellent training and supervision in Medical Administration in rural areas. You will be encouraged to develop your own learning skills in post and be encouraged to take responsibility and work autonomously as your training and skill development allows. You will be joining a dynamic team at a pivotal time during a unique period of innovation. You will have the satisfaction of contributing to the transformation of EFN’s Medical Services to improve access for South Australia’s most remote communities
To be eligible to apply, you will have registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. You will also have minimum of 3 years clinical experience post registration.
