The Deputy Director Medical Services has responsibility, working in consultation with the Director Medical Services, for management of medical administration functions, including day-to-day medical services operational management, junior and senior medical workforce management, policies and procedures development and implementation, and safety, quality measures and clinical governance of Medical Services. They will work in collaboration with medical nursing and allied health colleagues to promote evidence-based practice and innovation for excellence in care and continuous improvement. As a clinical leader, they will enhance clinical engagement and professional practice and standards, as well as a culture of respect for the individual, teamwork and continuous performance improvement.
The Deputy Director Medical Services may also undertake responsibilities in another clinical discipline relevant to their qualifications subject to approval by the SLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee. The role in the clinical department includes patient care and some involvement in teaching, research, quality improvement and/or administrative activities, the scope of which to be confirmed negotiated by the Department Head and Director Medical Services.
The expected commitment to the combined roles is up to a total of 1.0 FTE (inclusive of a minimum of 0.5 FTE directly relating to the Medical Services portfolio).
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with Fellowship of a Medical College relevant to the role, and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
