C-Suite Partners is exclusively partnering with WA Country Health Service for the appointment of their next Regional Director Medical Services. This appointment will see you take the lead of the medical workforce of the South-West Region of Western Australia.

WA Country Health Service is the largest country health service in Australia and one of the biggest in the world. It delivers a range of comprehensive health services across an area of more than 2.5 million square kilometres to over half a million people in Western Australian. There are 6 large regional hospitals, 15 medium sized district hospitals and 48 small hospitals. Along with this there are 31 health centres and nursing posts, 4 dedicated mental health inpatient units and 24 dedicated mental health services.

About the Role

The Regional Director Medical Services will have responsibility for the professional leadership and governance of all medical practitioners within the South-West region with a focus on workforce, patient safety and quality improvement, clinical service planning, medical education and clinical research. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Director Medical Services with a strong level of emotional intelligence and extensive experience in stakeholder management across a large region or health service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the medical workforce of the South-West Region
• Working collaboratively with other senior management within and across other regions
• Ensuring exemplary relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrate medical leadership and governance of patient safety and continuous quality improvement, clinical service planning, medical education and clinical research
• Provide advice to and from the Regional Director and Executive Director Medical Services on rural and regional specific medical related matters
• Implement clinical risk identification and management processes
• Be involved in strategic and operational planning at all levels of the health service

About You

Background and Qualifications:

• Registered medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Demonstrated knowledge of ACHS Accreditation
• Previous senior health management experience including demonstrated ability to proactively plan, manage resources, influence change and team participation at a strategic level
• Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of health policy and programs
• Knowledge and experience of indigenous, rural and remote healthcare service delivery is highly desirable
• Experienced in strategic health planning processes
• Fellowship with the Australian College of Medical Administration is desirable
• Experienced in the management of a region for a public health service is highly regarded
• Postgraduate management or leadership qualifications
• Strong knowledge of contemporary health issues and policies
• Demonstrated high level of emotional intelligence to foster and develop professional relationships
