An exciting opportunity exists to join the NSW Medical Administration Training Program in Sydney Local Health District.

What you’ll be doing

The Medical Informatics JMO position is a full-time role that provides medical informatics expertise and support to all hospitals and health services within Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).

The role is physically based across Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Repatriation General Hospitals (approximately 50% time will be spent at each), however includes Balmain Hospital, Canterbury Hospitals and other health services where required.

This position integrates clinical expertise with computer and information sciences to advise on clinical information systems development, supports the medical workforce in utilising these systems safely and productively including delivering training, and drives adoption and effective translation of clinical practice within these systems.

It facilitates the integration of evidence, research, health information analytics, clinical best practice, and industry knowledge of successful implementations to support patients, clinicians and other providers in their use of the electronic medical record (eMR) and other clinical information systems.

This position is an accredited training post for the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administration (RACMA) Fellowship Training Program, however existing candidacy is not a prerequisite for selection.

Qualifications:

  • General Registration: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • At least two years’ recent experience working as a medical practitioner in Australia.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience to practise as a Junior Medical Officer in medical informatics which may include relevant research and current (or working toward) higher qualification e.g. Master of Health Management, Master of Digital Health, CHIA Digital Health Certification.
  • Current or previous clinical experience with digital clinical information systems including Cerner Millenium, Epic Systems, electronic Medications Management, and virtual models of care.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing clinical informatics including health informatics implementations and delivering relevant training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact and influence effectively, develop productive working relationships with a wide range of individuals and interest groups, and prepare high-quality briefing documents and presentations.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and organisational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team as required.
  • An understanding of clinical governance principles and how they can be applied in digital health.
