About the Role

The Medical Director is responsible for leading and managing a team of medical staff within the Service Group towards the achievement of the Townsville Hospital and Health vision of increasing the health and wellbeing of people in the Townsville community through the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable care. The role represents a key area of medical leadership and will be expected to provide expert medical advice based on knowledge of contemporary medical models and best practice standards.

About You

The incumbent will be a practicing clinician or Fellow Royal Australasian College of  Medical Administrators (FRACMA). There is an opportunity to retain responsibility for managing a clinical case load within the relevant speciality as applicable. The position holds specific responsibilities for medical workforce planning, management and development, education, training and research and clinical experience and leadership development.

Requirements:

  • Current registration (or eligible for registration) with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist and holding qualifications in your specialist field.
  • A qualification encompassing advanced management skills is highly desirable.
