About the Role

The Medical Director Safety, Quality and Innovation supports the Director of Medical Services who is the medical professional lead for all medical officers of The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH).

The role is responsible for providing comprehensive specialist medical administrative leadership and assistance in the resolution of complex clinical, medico legal, ethical and operational challenges to ensure that the medical services provided by the TPCH are delivered to the highest professional and ethical standards. Underpinning this role at all times is the maximization of clinical effectiveness and consumer-centered care. This role has a particular focus on clinical governance, clinical innovation, building a quality improvement culture, and accreditation. Other organizational aspects with potential significant impact on this role are digital innovation, medical workforce wellbeing, training, professional development and research. Liaison and collaboration in these aspects asrequired is expected.

  • Provide professional, strategic and operational leadership within TPCH
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to develop and implement innovative integrated quality systems and clinical models of care that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Lead the management of complex clinical, medico legal, ethical and operational challenges
  • Lead medical involvement in accreditation to meet the National Health Standards.
  • Facilitate broader training and development opportunities for all staff that inform and teach about matters relevant to clinical governance, quality and safety.

About You

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and, where applicable, registration or membership
with the Medical Board of Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the
appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
▪ Registration or eligible for registration as a Specialist Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia in
Medical Administration.
▪ Fellowship of Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators.
▪ A significant period of post Fellowship experience would be highly regarded
▪ Possession of a higher degree or experience in relevant research would be highly regarded
▪ Certified copies of relevant registration and qualifications must be provided prior to the commencement of
duties.
▪ The successful applicant must have Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) awarded by a Metro North Hospital and
Health Service Credentialing and SoCP committee. Information presented for application will be presented to
the committee during the selection process, and all appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within
the CSCF for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken. This process must be completed prior
to commencement.
