Where you’ll be working

The Knox Private Hospital is Healthscope’s flagship facility in its eastern Melbourne cluster, which also includes Ringwood Private Hospital, Bellbird Private Hospital and The Victorian Rehabilitation Centre. The Hospital has 259 beds and cares for the health of over 1.2 million people in Melbourne’s east and south eastern suburbs, as well as regional east Victoria.

In the last 10 years alone, there have been three major redevelopments of Knox Private Hospital and in July 2023 there will be a further expansion which will see completion of a new tower with 60 new beds, upgraded Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units, with additional bed capacity (14 and 17 respectively), a 16 chair renal dialysis service, upgraded non-invasive/ diagnostic Cardiology unit and 9 additional specialist consulting rooms

About the Role

The vibrant and multidisciplinary Knox Private Hospital seeks to appoint a highly talented and knowledgeable medical administrator to join its leadership team and be the key administrative link between the medical staff and the hospital Executive. In this 0.6EFT position, the Medical Director will oversee identification, implementation and evaluation of hospital services to enhance clinical outcomes and compliance with legislative requirements and ACHS accreditation.

Reporting to the Hospital’s General Manager, the Medical Director will sit on the Executive Leadership Team and will take an organisation-wide approach to their role. Leading the specialty Craft Programs will be a key function of the role as will be supporting the Doctors in a range of clinical and non-clinical initiatives.

About You

Equipped with sound knowledge across multiple clinical disciplines, the successful candidate will have senior level experience in clinical leadership and management gained in private and/or public settings.  Possessing outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, the appointee will be known as an effective influencer and negotiator and a highly collaborative leader who readily builds trusted relationships. The Medical Director will have a growth mindset and will have a genuine interest to understand and contribute to broader hospital functions. Possession of a qualification enabling registration with AHPRA is mandatory.  Fellowship or Associate Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators or other appropriate specialist recognition would be considered favourably as would post-graduate management qualifications.
