Purpose of the Role

The Medical Administration Registrar provides high quality administrative and management services for Medical Administration at Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals, Woodford Corrections Health Service and the Caboolture and Bribie Island Satellite Health Centres (CKW) Clinical Directorate within Metro North Health. The Medical Administration Registrar is expected to develop their skills in medical management with the aim of achieving specialist skills in the field. The Registrar is expected to develop an understanding of strategic and operational management in the planning and management of medical services which enables the provision of quality, safe patient care. The Medical Administration Registrar position is a RACMA training position; College guidelines on training and education are included in the appendix

Context and Delegations

  • This role reports directly to the CKW Director of Medical Services
  • This role has a professional reporting line to the CKW Director of Medical Services
  • This role will work directly with the CKW Deputy Director of Medical Services.

About Medical Services

Medical Services at Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals, Woodford Corrections Health Service and the Caboolture and Bribie Island Satellite Health Centres (CKW) Clinical Directorate includes the Medical Workforce and Education Units and is led by the Director of Medical Services, who is the medical professional lead for all medical officers at CKW.
Medical Services provides comprehensive specialist medical administrative leadership and assistance in the resolution of complex clinical, medico-legal, ethical and operational challenges to ensure that medical services provided by Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals, Woodford Corrections Health Service and the Caboolture and Bribie Island Satellite Health Centres (CKW) Clinical Directorate are delivered to the highest professional and ethical standards.

Medical Services oversees the following functions at Caboolture Hospital:

  • Recruitment and orientation of all medical officers
  • Prevocational medical education program for interns and PGY2 and 3
  • Professional college accreditation
  • Emergency Management and Business Continuity Planning
  • Medical officer wellbeing
  • Junior Medical officer professional standards and performance
  • Medical pool rostering and fatigue risk management for all medical officers
  • Medical Leaders Forums

Key Accountabilities

This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health’s values:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health’s core values
  • Report directly to the Director of Medical Services
  • Provide operational support to the Director of Medical Services and the Deputy Director of Medical Services.
  • Develop effective and sustainable relationships with stakeholders in support of the role e.g. program directors, senior and junior medical staff, administrative support officers etc.
  • Participation in clinical governance, patient safety, and emergency disaster management.
  • Participation in medical workforce management and medical education.
  • Project management in relation to contemporary medical professional matters.
  • Serve as a professional role model for junior medical staff by behaviour and attitude.
  • Supervisor/preceptor performance assessment annually based on RACMA competencies as per RACMA guidelines.
