The Sir Charles Gairdner Group comprises the Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Hospitals. Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of the country’s leading tertiary teaching hospitals, it was opened in 1958 in Nedlands and today it has 630 beds, employing 4864 FTE and offering a full range of services to patients referred from throughout Western Australia, interstate and overseas. The hospital has a state-of-the-art Emergency Department and is the principal site in Western Australia for neurosurgery, liver transplant, acute stroke management; and it offers WA’s only comprehensive Cancer centre. It is ranked amongst the world’s best hospitals and has an international reputation for ground breaking medical research.
Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) was opened in 1962 and is located in Stirling, it is a 187 bed community general hospital providing comprehensive specialist health care services for the north metropolitan suburbs – under three main specialty areas including: Rehabilitation and Aged Care Services, Surgical Services, and Women’s and Newborn Services.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Senior Executive to join our team and take on this key leadership position within the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS). As the Executive Director of the Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Health Care Group (SCGHOPHCHG), you will report directly to the Chief Executive and provide strategic oversight across the Group, ensuring the delivery of high quality acute health care and hospital services. You will be an integral member of the senior leadership team, contributing to decision making on whole of WA Health issues for the north catchment area. You will lead and promote organisational cultural reform and be responsible for the Hospitals’ performance against several key indicators. Accountable for the operations of the Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Hospitals including the delivery of clinical programs; you will be required to build and maintain effective relationships with a suitably broad range of internal and external stakeholders to enable the efficient and effective delivery of quality services to our patients.
We are looking for an experienced senior executive with demonstrated capability to deliver outcomes in a complex hospital and health care setting; also responsible for improving patient flow through clinical redesign. You will need to lead a renewed focus on delivering a range of operational targets including elective surgery and emergency access. In addition, we need an individual to lead the organisation through an ongoing period of cultural reform with an emphasis on staff engagement. Superior leadership skills and proven expertise in organisational change management and shaping culture will therefore be essential.
You will need to demonstrate a record of achievement and experience managing significantly sized budgets and physical resources to meet key health service outcomes. A proven ability to positively influence and collaborate with key stakeholders; and effectively interface across the health sector and with the broader community will be critical for this role. You will exemplify personal integrity and self-awareness and act as a role model across the organisation.
