About the Role
The position is responsible for developing and sustaining effective liaison and consultation with medical providers across the District as well as for the provision of strategic planning, leadership and direction for selected specialty services on a District basis.
The role will provide the Chief Executive with expert advice on medical workforce matters, medico-legal issues and the relevant clinical policy, award and statutory requirements.
As a key leader in the LHD, the District Director Medical Services provides significant input to the development and oversight of strategic and business plans, policy development, business and medical service strategies and relationship management.
About You
- Unconditional Specialist registration as a Medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) or Candidate progressing towards Fellowship of RACMA or Associate Fellowship of RACMA, coupled with significant experience as a manager with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrated successful experience in both the development and implementation of initiatives to improve the delivery of medical services and improvement in community health and wellbeing.
- Demonstrated capacity to operate as a member of the senior executive team of a regional health service that provides primary and secondary services.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult and negotiate effectively with the community, senior health professionals, management and staff, health interest group representatives and senior executives of government agencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary clinical governance systems and processes associated with the provision of health care services.
- Demonstrated ability in developing, implementing and evaluating systems and processes to improve patient safety and ensure quality of care.
