Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced medical administrator to undertake a permanent part-time Director of Medical Services role with Stawell Regional Health.

The position will be based in Stawell (population 7,000) in Western Victoria, a 3 hour drive North-West of Melbourne. Stawell is positioned as the Gateway to the Grampians National Park offering an enviable choice of lifestyle including bush walking, rock climbing, cycling, and local wineries.

Stawell Regional Health (SRH) has been providing quality health care to families in the Stawell District and beyond for more than 150 years. It is a fully accredited 70 bed health service delivering a comprehensive range of services including a 26-bed acute inpatient unit providing medical, surgical, paediatric, transitional care and palliative services and a busy Urgent Care Centre. The Health Service prides itself on their community centred care, a can-do attitude and most importantly a very collaborative, motivated and supportive team.

About the Role

This is a 2 day a week role for a period of 2 years and potentially longer, supporting the CEO and the SRH leadership team by ensuring effective medical leadership across the breadth of SRH’s acute, aged care and community services, with a particular focus on:

• Medical engagement and leadership within SRH’s approach to effective Clinical Governance, including the engagement of appointed medical practitioners in clinical governance activities
• Oversight and support of SRH’s medical practice model, including visiting medical (non GP) specialist practitioners and local and regional general practitioners
• Assisting in the strategic development of SRH within the context of the broader Victorian Public Hospital System
• Supporting SRH’s efforts to provide effective clinical training activities across the breadth of clinical professions
• Actively supporting regional clinical service models and partnerships
• The role can be applied flexibly but will require at least one day a week on site, with some after hours meetings required.

Terms and conditions for this position are in accordance with the AMA Victoria- Victorian Public Health Services Medical Specialists Enterprise agreement 2018-21. An attractive salary package will be negotiated for the right candidate.
