South Western Sydney Local Health District’s (SWSLHD) vision is Leading care, healthier communities. SWSLHD strives to provide healthcare services that are patient focused, equitable and responsive to the changing and developing needs of the communities in South Western Sydney (SWS). SWSLHD covers seven Local Government Areas from Bankstown to Wingecarribee and has a population of approximately 966,450 people.
The District is among the most rapidly growing populations in NSW and projected to grow by a third between 2016 and 2031: from just under 1 million people to around 1.3 million people. It is also a vibrant, culturally diverse region with almost a third of its population speaking a language other than English at home.The District covers spans across rural, suburban and metropolitan communities and manages six acute public hospitals including Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, a principal referral hospital with 454 beds. The NSW Government has committed $1.3 billion to redevelop Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital on a new site, with work to commence in this term of Government.
A Director of Medical Services is now sought to participate as an integral member of the Hospital executive team and provide leadership to the portfolios of Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, Medical Administration, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pharmacy and the Prevocational Education and Training Unit.
The role is expected to implement strategies to ensure safe and high-quality health care across all medical departments in Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and provide:
Reporting to the General Manager Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, the Director of Medical Services will be a current medical practitioner, registered (or eligible for registration) with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the RACMA and/or other relevant specialist recognition. The successful applicant will have demonstrated senior management experience in a major health care institution. The role will suit a medical professional with a passion for working in a well performing, growing health service with a senior medical workforce that is progressive and innovative. It is also an opportunity to provide professional input into the planning and implementation of a green field hospital in a rapidly growing area of Sydney.
