About the role
Within the framework of the mission, vision, values, philosophy and policies of Calvary, the Director of Medical Services provides executive management, leadership and support in the provision of clinical and other services.  Other responsibilities include Clinical Governance, Clinical Leadership, Clinical Risk Management, Disaster Management, Research, Quality and Safety, Psycho-Oncology Services, Allied Health and Strategic Management of medical services for Calvary Mater Newcastle.

What you bring  

  • Registered Medical Practitioner authorised to practise by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators Specialist recognition as provided for in the Salaried Senior Medical Practitioners
  • Demonstrated experience at an executive/senior level in driving a culture of professional medical administration and governance, inclusive of issues relating to medical workforce, medical professional practice, clinical governance, clinical ethics, clinical teaching and clinical leadership
  • Demonstrated high level of competence in interpersonal skills, consultation and effective communication with staff of the Health Service, including VMOs, professional organisations, medical associations, medical colleges and University medical schools, gained in a public health setting.
