Opportunity: Director of Medical Services

Bulunu Ward, Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory

  • Be rewarded with a salary package of $375k PLUS a $10k retention bonus for your first year, up to 15k for your second year and up to $20k for the third year and ongoing.

Salary package includes:

  • Salary packaging as a not for profit organisation.
  • 6 weeks annual leave as well as flexible leave up to 75 hours per year.
  • 4 weeks study and professional development leave with up to $5k study assistance.
  • Subsidised accommodation.
  • Up to $10k relocation assistance and up to $15k repatriation assistance.
  • $5k PI Insurance and travel allowance of up to $2,035 per annum for leave.

Your opportunity

In this role, you’ll thrive on the variety of every day. You’ll improve the health and wellbeing of the peoples of East Arnhem Land through:

  • Provide leadership to the organisation and provision of MHAC medical services ensuring they:
    • are based on evidence and accepted medical best practice.
    • embody a systems-based, population health approach.
    • meet the needs of Aboriginal communities in the region; and
    • inform appropriate health service planning and policy responses.
  • Directly manage and support General Practitioners, Registrars and other medical staff to perform their responsibilities and duties.
  • Work with NTGPE and other relevant medical training organisations and provide lead supervision of Registrars.
  • In consultation with the CEO, lead a process of engagement with communities and other health services in the region, and identify and develop strategic partnerships with other relevant agencies, with a view to meeting the needs of Aboriginal communities in the region.

About you

You’ll be a collaborative leader, with a genuine desire to improve the standard of primary healthcare across our region. Importantly, you’ll be willing to learn from your colleagues and members of the community.  While we deliver vital services everyday, our purpose is to empower Yolngu people to control their own health outcomes.

How do you know if you’re the right fit?

Before you reach out and apply, we need you to have:

  • Extensive experience as a General Practitioner.
  • Medical Practitioner’s Specialist GP Registration with AHPRA.
  • A commitment to improving Aboriginal health through primary health care.
  • FRACGP or FACRRM and able to supervise Registrars.
  • A demonstrated understanding of a population health, systems-based, approach to improving the health status of disadvantaged peoples.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal Community Control Primary Health Care Service.
  • Strong management skills, including time management skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and the ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Experience in a remote community or Clinical and Primary Health Care Service.
