About the Role

St John of God Ballarat and Warrnambool Hospitals has a key leadership opportunity available for a committed individual to commence to provide outstanding clinical leadership within the hospitals that underpins its successful performance.

As a member of the Hospital Management Committee, the Director of Medical Services will lead a dynamic, responsive and adaptive clinical team to deliver distinctive and compassionate patient care that reflects the Vision, Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care consistent with contemporary best practice.

This role is challenging and represents a fantastic opportunity for the right person, this opportunity is being offered on a permanent part time basis, working 60.8 hours per fortnight.

As the Director of Medical Services, you will:

• Lead the divisional Medical Services, establishing a planned and strategic approach to organisation wide clinical matters.
• Lead and motivate people to maintain a strong “service ethos” in the clinical services culture whilst focusing on the delivery of key financial and operational outcomes.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of excellent standards in medical services, including the ongoing evaluation of patient care.
• Lead and model behaviours and a culture of excellence in care within a patient-centred framework.
• Provide leadership in the Hospital’s quality and risk management programs.
• Coordinate the process of accreditation and authorising scope of practice for medical practitioners.
• Advise the Chief Executive Officer on all matters of medical policy.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
• Medical Practitioner registered with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Medical practice and clinical management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in a patient focused environment.
• Operational and strategic planning experience.
• Knowledge of and experience in quality and clinical risk management areas.
