Where you’ll be working

Kilmore District Health provides a range of Acute, Maternity, Theatre, Urgent Care and Aged Care services to our rapidly increasing catchment population. Inpatient and outpatient services are offered to the community of Kilmore and district including maternity, medical, surgical, and subacute care. The hospital has 30 Acute beds, 2 Operating suites, a four-bay Urgent Care Centre and a District Nursing Service. Aged Care includes a 30 Bed High Care facility and a 30 Bed Low Care Facility.

About the Role

To help support and ensure a high level of care continues to be provided to our community, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated Director of Medical Services to come and join the team in permanent, part time role.

Joining the Kilmore team will give you an opportunity to utilize all of your knowledge and skills to provide medical services within a rural setting to the growing community.

The Director of Medical Services will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, with the primary role of the Director of Medical Services is to ensure the highest quality of clinical services is provided to patients, clients, care recipients and residents at TKDH.  This requires the delivery of evidence based, safe and effective clinical care and support.  Clinical governance, risk management, service development and continuity of care form the cornerstone of this role.

The Director of Medical Services determines and authorises procedures and protocol in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer.  This role is accountable for the maintenance of professional standards of medical staff ensuring best practice guidelines and patient centred care philosophies are followed.

The Director of Medical Services works in close liaison with Visiting Medical Officers, senior leadership team, clinical nursing staff, and external service providers in the provision of comprehensive patient care services both on and off campus.

About You

The incumbent must hold the below essential criteria:

  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the APHRA and hold a current practicing certificate
  • Demonstrated experience in medical administration
  • Post graduate qualification in medical administration and/or health administration or equivalent (a
    commitment to obtaining AFRACMA is desirable)
  • Probity and clearance required prior to commencement including current Police and Working with
    Children Check.

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience at senior management or executive level within the health sector
  • Previous experience in a small rural, local or regional health service
  • Previous clinical experience in acute (urgent care, medical and/or surgical) or maternity services
