Griffith Base Hospital is a 119-bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. Each year we support approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 600 births.
Griffith Base Hospital provides and a 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) with 15 ED spaces. The ED is supported by an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and also equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team in Griffith with specialists across the NSW Critical Care Advisory Service.
We provide a range of specialist services (both resident & visiting) including emergency medicine, critical care, general medicine, surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis and rehabilitation.

The Director Medical services will have full responsibility for the professional leadership of medical services at Griffith Base Hospital and Western Sector Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) working with clinical staff to strengthen clinician involvement in decision-making, professional leadership and coordination of medical services for the hospitals. There is a strong focus on the support and growth of specialised clinical services and provide overall management and support of the medical team.
The Director Medical Services will drive the operational work and provide high level of medical administrative strategy and advice of the sites under the direction of the Hospital General Manager and Executive DMS. This position will also play a prominent role in the building of the new Griffith Base Hospital.
As the Director Medical Services for Griffith Base Hospital, you will have demonstrated experience at a similar level in a rural hospital in Australia or New Zealand. Your knowledge and understanding of the complexities of a small to medium regional hospital will be critical to the success of the role. Your collaborative management style and ability to mentor and lead a highly skilled clinical team will be essential to the success of this role. The successful candidate will hold Unconditional general and/or specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) or Candidate progressing towards Fellowship of RACMA or Associate Fellowship of RACMA.
