Where you’ll be working
YDMH is a small rural heath service health service located in the rural township of Yea. The town (which is renowned for its beauty and eateries), is situated in North Central Victoria just under 2 hours from the Melbourne CBD.
The Hospital works closely with visiting medical officers from the well-established general practise in the town. In partnership they deliver residential aged care services, acute care, urgent care and community health services to the visitors and residents of western Murrindindi shire.
About the Role
This role represents an exciting opportunity to be a key member of YDMH’s senior Executive team whose core purpose is to work together to deliver safe, high quality care to our community.
This role is accountable for medical leadership and proactive engagement of the VMO group on behalf of the Hospital. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working alongside the Director of Clinical Services, the position is central to promotion of an organisational culture of clinical excellence, service quality and patient safety.
The DMS is responsible for management of medical workforce credentialing, performance, training and professional development. The role facilitates contract renewal, provides medico-legal advice and support (as appropriate); and assistance to the CEO on medical and clinical matters.
About You
Key selection criteria
Essential:
- Medical Board of Australia general and/or specialist registration under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Experience and qualification relevant to medical administration/management such as FRACMA / AFRACMA or MBA/MHA (or working towards).
- Demonstrated experience in medical practice and high-level medical leadership.
- A strong understanding of and commitment to clinical governance.
- Contemporary knowledge of professional issues and trends in the medical profession.
- Advanced interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated evidence of commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
- Translating knowledge, innovation, policy, regulation and analysis of clinical data into practical actions to improve the quality and safety of healthcare and health outcomes for patients
Desirable:
- Advanced understanding and knowledge of medical and clinical issues in rural health
