Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is a sub-regional hospital within the Victorian Public Health system which provides a comprehensive array of health care services to the East Gippsland community in Eastern Victoria. BRHS is the region’s largest employer and provides multi-disciplinary health services that incorporates a long-established hospital with 51 acute beds, 20 sub-acute/rehabilitation beds, modern theatre suite, emergency department, short stay unit, oncology, dialysis, palliative care and maternity services. Community support is provided via Community Health programs, Dental Services and Specialist Consulting Rooms.

BRHS is now recruiting to a Director Medical Services role which offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive executive leadership team, which prides itself on being respected leaders of outstanding health care. The role also has sub-regional responsibilities with Omeo District Health Service and Orbost Regional Health Service to lead sub-regional planning and service provision.

If you are interested in an opportunity to lead clinical governance, develop contemporary models of care, create workforce planning solutions and develop research partnerships, then we want to hear from you.

Bairnsdale is known for its strong sense of community and is a laid-back country town, close to beautiful scenic drives. It is the gateway to the world-famous Gippsland Lakes, Mitchell River, surrounding forests and the alpine villages of Omeo, Dinner Plain and Mount Hotlam. At the heart of the town is St Mary’s a Romanesque church built in the early 19th Century, murals by the Italian artist Francesco Floreani and the breathtaking East Gippsland Art Gallery featuring local artists.

This role would suit a clinical leader who enjoys spending time outdoors and in recreational pursuits. Working in Bairnsdale offers you an opportunity to travel from surf to snow within a day. The region boasts stunning snowfields, lakes, beaches and wilderness. Bairnsdale is the commercial hub of East Gippsland with thriving timber, wool and dairy industries. It also offers a variety of arts, historical and cultural experiences. To learn more about Gunaikurnai people of East Gippsland, join the Bataluk Cultural Trail and discover the history and culture of the local indigenous people. With a variety of state, Catholic, private and specialist primary and secondary schools, Bairnsdale provides excellent education options. There are tertiary facilities and initiatives through TAFE and other specialist education and training facilities.
