About the Role

The Deputy Director of Medical Services reports to the Director of Medical Services.  In conjunction with the Director of Medical Services, Service Line Directors and Clinical Directors is responsible for ensuring that the medical services provided by the Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals and Woodford Corrections Health Service are delivered to the highest professional and ethical standards.

Context and Delegations

  • This role reports directly to Director of Medical Services
  • This role has a professional reporting line to Chief Medical Officer, Metro North Health through the Director of Medical Services
  • This role will work directly with Hospital Executives and multidisciplinary hospital leadership teams
  • Finance Delegations as per band 8
  • HR Delegations as per band 6
  • The Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate consists of a large regional hospital, a small rural facility and a prison health service. It has an annual budget of approximately $200 million and provides acute, sub-acute and primary healthcare to coastal areas such as of Bribie Island, Toorbul and Beachmere, rural areas such as Kilcoy, Woodford and Dayboro and urban areas of Caboolture, Morayfield, Burpengary and Narangba.

Mandatory requirements:

  1. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and, where applicable, registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the  appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  2. Fellowship or significant progress as a Candidate of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators is a requirement for this role.
  3. Medical Board of Australia Registration as a medical practitioner.
  4. It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (Health Employment Directive No. 12/21 and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
  5. It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16):
  • Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella (chicken pox)
  • Pertussis (whooping cough)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis
