MercyAscot’s heritage goes back over 117 years to when Mercy Hospital started to provide healthcare services to the people of Auckland.  Now one of New Zealand’s largest private surgical facilities, with 22 operating theatres, a high dependency unit and an intensive care unit.

About the Role

MercyAscot’s vision is to provide world class care. This role is a key member of the MercyAscot Executive Team, taking responsibility for the quality of medical and clinical practice, continually striving to raise its quality and safety to deliver that world class vision.  This role focuses on clinical outcomes and the clinical relationships with specialists that enables this.

This involves:

• Being the medical lead of MercyAscot, setting the tone of world class care, modelling behavior, and providing leadership in significant clinical incidents and issues.
• Developing and maintaining a cohort of suitably qualified and skilled specialists in support of the business growth strategy and the clinical services plan.
• Ensuring MercyAscot is NZ’s most desirable hospital for specialists to practice due to the clinical collegiality, the innovation and excellence of clinical practice, the strong clinical leadership and governance, the use of data to drive improvements and a shared vision for the delivery of world class care.
• Providing clinical leadership to the Clinical Services & Growth Plans and support with their implementation.
• Working collaboratively with the Quality and Clinical Operations Leadership Teams to ensure clinical practice is high-quality, evidence based, and “gold standard” whilst clinical innovations are identified and adopted.
• Championing the development of systems and processes specialists use to deliver care such as the electronic medical record (EMR) Promote publication of MA achievements to spotlight high quality and innovative practice at MA.
