I am at a stage of life when my interest is to use whatever experience and wisdom I have accumulated to benefit those coming after me. I started life as paediatrician and worked for 17 years at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and in private hospitals (so I know how they work!). I developed an interest in medical management working as the Deputy Director of Quality and as the service’s Medico Legal Officer. My interest in systems prompted me to do an MHA. In 2005, I jumped into Medical Administration as the DMS of Western Health. Two years later I was appointed as CMO of Eastern Health (a job I loved!). At that point I thought I had better prove my credentials and sat the RACMA exams and became a Fellow. Using my accumulated experience I became a lecturer for the college management programs and an examiner. I have supervised and mentored many trainees who are now my colleagues. Being on the RACMA Board would be an honour.
