About the role

Calvary Public Hospital Bruce, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) is a 275-bed public hospital comprising two campuses – the Bruce campus and the Barton campus. Bruce campus is the location of the 256 bed Calvary Hospital providing emergency, acute and sub-acute services.  The Barton campus houses Clare Holland House, a specialist inpatient and community based palliative care service. Calvary Hospital’s strategic aim is Improving the health and wellbeing of our community working with them to provide high quality public health services with compassion, care, innovation and skill with a focus on efficacy and integrity.

The organisation is now seeking to appoint a Director of Clinical Services, Medical responsible for providing effective leadership of the organisation, professional leadership of medical staff, ensuring compliance with medical standards and promotion of the medical profession. The successful incumbent of this role will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be part of the senior executive team of the organization.

Other responsibilities include the direct leadership and management of some of the clinical services (Clinical Streams and Allied Health) relating to the line management responsibilities of the position. The Director of Clinical Services, Medical holds the overall responsibility for human research and ethics across CHCB and disaster / emergency management in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

What you bring

The successful applicant for this role will:

  • Hold a recognised Medical Qualification and current Medical Registration with AHPRA as an essential qualification

  • Fellowship Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators or equivalent and/ or Post-graduate research or health services management qualifications whilst not essential would be well regarded

  • Have experience of successful operational management of a large, complex Acute Care organization, including experience in clinical governance, risk assessment and management, continuous improvement, quality initiatives and customer service principles, demonstrable achievement of budget, access and quality targets

  • Knowledge of contemporary medical practice and issues at a local national and international level
