Job Description An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and qualified individual to join the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) as the Director Medical Education. In conjunction with the Executive Director Medical Services you will provide strategic vision, direction and coordination for postgraduate medical education within WACHS, recognising:
• the requirements of the Postgraduate Medical Council of WA
• the requirements of Australian Specialist Colleges
• the advice of the WACHS Assessment Review Group and Prevocational Education and Training Committee
• the registration requirements of the Medical Board of Australia

This role is responsible for the operational aspects of the Medical Education Unit (MEU) including reporting, financial management, and human resource management and represents WACHS on various stakeholder committees to advise on the medical education requirements for country doctors. In addition the position is responsible for the coordination and development of the WACHS Simulation Education Program which targets doctors in rural areas.

The successful applicant will communicate and liaise with WACHS regional management, particularly Regional Directors and Directors of Medical Services regarding medical education, junior doctor logistics and funding arrangements for junior doctor placements. You will liaise with primary health services regarding junior doctor rotations, education and placements to rural sites, and act as a conduit between WACHS Directors of Clinical Training and Metropolitan MEU.

Applications are accepted from registered Specialists, including Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and/or Australian College of Medical Administration. The successful applicant will demonstrate:
• extensive clinical experience and demonstrated engagement in clinical practice
• experience of program management within a complex setting, including financial and project management skills, corporate governance reporting and strategic management
• outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including reporting, negotiation, advocacy and leadership skills.
• excellent conceptual and analytical skills, with a proven ability to provide innovative thinking in identifying solutions to complex problems.
