Job Description

Portland District Health (PDH) is seeking a suitably qualified, energetic and experienced medical administrator to join its executive team. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead and manage the medical workforce to ensure the highest standard of care delivery.

PDH provides an integrated health service to its primary catchment population of some 20,000 in south-west Victoria's Glenelg Shire and beyond. The service comprises acute, primary health and aged care. Its facilities include 69 inpatient beds, two operating theatres, an eight-bed day procedure unit, a dialysis unit, a chemotherapy day stay facility and a visiting specialist centre with 18 consultation rooms and two medical treatment rooms. The co-located GP "Superclinic" (Active Health Portland) complements PDH's services.

You should have a primary medical qualification registered or registrable with the Medical Board of Australia/Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (or postgraduate training, qualifications and experience in medical administration assessed by the College as suitable for this position). You should also have a proven record of proficiency in medical administration, medical workforce planning and clinical governance, together with a practical knowledge of clinical systems within the Australian health care setting.

Portland is located in south-west Victoria, between Melbourne and Adelaide. There are daily return flights to Melbourne. Stretching around its deep-water port, Portland marries charming coastal life with the serenity of national parks, spectacular seaside scenery and the facilities of a small city. It has a range of primary and secondary schools. This combination of coastal, rural and low-density urban living makes Portland an ideal place to live, work and raise a family.
