Position Title: National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training

INTRODUCTION
The Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators is a specialist medical college educating medical practitioners as health service managers.


ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role of the AFRACMA Coordinator of Training is to:

  1. Support College AFRACMA and trainees in the AFRACMA training program
    • Promote the value of RACMA training to clinician managers in the Australasian health system
    • Participate in strategic development of the College’s plans to increase recruitment to the AFRACMA training program
    • Advise the AFRACMA Board Director and National Office on College services improvement for AFRACMA
    • Develop communication strategies with AFRACMA to build engagement in College  activity
       
  2. Support the processing of applications for AFRACMA training program
    • Advise the AFRACMA Director and the National Office on the design and  development of curricula and teaching activities for doctors in clinician management roles
    • Advise the National Office  on the appropriateness of applications from doctors for entry to the AFRACMA training program;
    • Advise the National Office about applications for advanced standing in the AFRACMA training program.
       
  3. Support the National Office in monitoring the progress of AFRACMA Trainees
    • Advise the RACMA Training Committee of the performance of trainees in the AFRACMA training program
    • Review the progress of each AFRACMA trainee and frame recommendations to the Credentialling Committee on the award of AFRACMA
    • Review academic and experiential training for individual AFRACMA Trainees and make recommendations to the Training Committee  and the Credentialling Committee as required;
    • Organise learning sets for AFRACMA trainees and facilitate at webinars conducted by the College.
       
  4. Report emerging issues
    • Report items of contention, interest or difficulty that AFRACMA have experienced to the Chair Training Committee;
    • Provide such advice and reports to the Chair Education and Training and the Training Committee  as requested;
    • Maintain regular communication with the National Office and be involved in developing education, experience and training programs clinician managers

ATTRIBUTES
The National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training will:
  • be a senior AFRACMA in good standing with peers and the College
  • be a practicing clinician manager
  • ideally have experience in service development and education and training
  • an excellent communicator
  • motivated to promote the College’s  value proposition for  clinician managers and their training in medical management and leadership.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
  1. RACMA Education and Training Portfolio
    • AFRACMA Board Director
      Liaise with the AFRACMA Board Director for discussion of issues, policies and decisions relating to development and performance of the AFRACMA training program.
       
    • Education and Training Committee
      Attend meetings of the Education and Training Committee  (E&TC) as requested. 

      The E&TC may create an AFRACMA Interest Group to advise the AFRACMA Board Director and the AFRACMA Coordinator of Training on the delivery of specific training programs for AFRACMA.

      Where the ETC Committee establishes an AFRACMA Interest Group the AFRACMA Board Director will Chair this Group and the National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training will be a member of the Group.
       
    • Training Committee
      Attend meetings of the Training Committee as a member of the Committee.
       
    • Credentialling Committee
      Advise the Credentialling Committee as required on matters relating to the application for the AFRACMA training program and the award of Associate Fellowship of the College.
       
    • AFRACMA
      Liaise and consult with College AFRACMA trainees and AFRACMA College members on matters relating to education and training.
       
    • National Office
      Liaise with the AFRACMA Co-ordinator in the College National Office to support the Co-ordinator in developing and administering the AFRACMA training and membership program.
       
  2. External to the College
    • Monitor the external environment to keep abreast of current trends in training requirements for clinician managers in order to inform College development of its AFRACMA program
       
    • Identify and engage with external expertise as required to support the College training program.

FINANCIAL AUTHORITY LIMITS
There are no financial delegations.

Approved expenses associated with the position will be covered by the College.


LOCATION WITHIN ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
The National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training is an E&TC appointment reporting to the Chair of the Education and Training Committee.


TENURE AND METHOD OF APPOINTMENT
The National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training will be appointed by the Education and Training (E&T) Committee.

Expressions of Interest in becoming the National AFRACMA Co-ordinator of Training will be invited as the need arises

The E&TC will consider expressions of interest and determine the appointment on merit.

The term of office of the National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training will be three years and further tenure will be determined by the E&TC.  The National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training may serve for a maximum period of 6 years (two terms).


PERFORMANCE
The E&TC will annually review and report on the performance of the National AFRACMA Coordinator of Training.
