TERMS OF REFERENCE
RACMA Training Committee

Scope
The Training Committee is an advisory sub committee of the Education and Training Committee. It will be a forum for College Faculty, Jurisdictional Coordinators of Training (formerly BOS) and Preceptors. The Committee will provide advice and support for the implementation and monitoring of the College curriculum and subsequent training programs. Until such time as the curriculum is endorsed, the Committee will provide advice and support for the current training programs however delivered.

1. Membership
The Committee Chair will be appointed by the Board

Other members
Coordinator of Training from each Jurisdiction
Preceptor Coordinator
Candidate representative
Associate Fellow representative

Quorum: 5 members consisting of Chair, a minimum of 3 jurisdictional members (one of whom must be New Zealand) & 1 candidate member.
 
2. Reporting
The Chair of the Training Committee will report to the Education and Training Committee.

3. Meetings
The Training Committee will meet quarterly, or as required. Meetings will normally be by teleconference provided one face to face meeting per year is conducted.

4. Responsibilities

4.1 The Training Committee will define its terms of reference relating to the College’s education and training activities and submit them to the Education and Training Committee for its approval and subsequent submission to the Board for its approval.

4.2 The Training Committee will:
  • Curriculum implementation & oversight:
    • Review policy and procedure which relates to the College’s education and training programs
    • Develop a strategic plan for the development and implementation of education and training programs for the College
    • Monitor the outcomes of the College’s education and training activities.
    • Monitor the quality of the College’s education and training activities
  • Curriculum evaluation activities:
    • Support program evaluations, disseminate the results of these evaluations and implement any actions required
    • Review teaching and learning strategies to ensure they are aligned with the curriculum
    • Support the development of syllabi to assist delivery of the curriculum
  • Linkages with Board of Censors:
    • Liaise with the Board of Censors to ensure that curriculum content aligns with assessment strategies
    • Liaise with the Board of Censors to provide formative assessments such as trial examinations
  • Process of training issues:
    • Support the development and implementation of teaching and learning initiatives such as workshops, seminars, elearning programs
  • Communication with stakeholders:
    • Communicate with preceptors and jurisdictional committees to support a coordinated approach to training
    • Facilitate provision and dissemination of information regarding innovations in postgraduate medical education to the wider College community
  • Communication with auspicing body:
    • Communicate with the Education and Training committee regarding any of the above
5. Evaluation
The Training Committee will annually review its performance.
