CEP Activity Options and Points Weighting


To assist in tallying up your CEP we have developed the following list of possible CEP Activities.

  • The general principal employed with the weighting is that 1 hour of CEP is equivalent to 1 point.
  • The role of the CEP coordinator is to provide coaching and guidance in line with the CEP program.
  • Requirements for RACMA Fellows (FRACMA):
    • 50 points per annum
    • At least one self review and/or 360 degree activity each triennium
    • It is recommended that a minimum of 10 points are selected from each of the Standard 2 Sections A-D.
  • Requirements for RACMA Associate Fellows (AFRACMA):
    • 25 points per annum and must be "management related" activities
    • It is recommended that a minimum of 5 points are selected from each of the Standard 2 Sections A-D.

RACMA Fellows and MOPS participants must undertake and document at least 50 points of CPD per annum in activities related to the RACMA competencies.
2a Clinical Governance, Quality improvement, Clinical Risk Management

Aim for at least 10 points per annum
ACHS surveyor; AMC reviewer, etc 1 point per hour,
max 10 per survey
Skills practice training - approved/recognised by College 1 point per hour,

Participation in relevant/accredited College Training webinars 2 points per webinar
Attendance at hearings, external governance bodies -registration/regulatory authorities 1 point per hour,

Professional reading in texts and electronic media related to clinical governance, quality improvement and clinical risk management 1 point per hour
2b Maintenance of Knowledge and Skills (College competencies)

Aim for at least 10 points per annum
Accredited College leadership workshops 1 point per hour,

Participation in surveys, accreditation visits, practice visits, study tours 1 point per hour,

Development and audit of personal learning plans 1 point per hour
Accredited College Master Classes. 1 point per hour,

Medico legal activities - courses, reports, hearings, commissions of enquiry 1 point per hour
Attendance at clinical briefings, grand rounds, 1 point per hour
Clinical CPD with another medical specialty college 20 per annual certificate
Other clinical CPD activities 1 point per hour

2c Teaching and Examination

Aim for at least 10 points per annum
Teaching - act as a preceptor, executive coach, AFRACMA tutor, mentor, supervisor 1 point per hour
Acting as a censor for the RACMA assessment program 1 point per hour
Preparing and delivering online webinars, tutorials, teleconferences and moderating discussion forums e.g. For AFRACMA, Young Doctors Program etc. 2 points per hour
Preparing and presenting lectures / seminars at external conferences and meetings 1 point per hour
2d Research and Publication

Aim for at least 10 points per annum
Conduct of research with university supervision 1 point per hour
max 20 per project
Publication of peer-reviewed scientific papers, technical reports, books or book chapters 1 point per hour
max 10 per paper
Article reviewer for scientific journals or medical publications 1 point per hour
max 10 per paper
Research/consultancy projects - grant proposals, reports 1 point per hour
max 10 per paper
3 RACMA Training Programs
Satisfactory completion of a year of the RACMA Fellowship training program

50 points per annum.
50 points per annum
Satisfactory completion of the AFRACMA training program
