Sharing PEARLS of wisdom?

The Medical Leaders workshop for Accelerated Pathway Candidates was held at the Sebel Surry Hills, Sydney on 7 & 8 March 2011. The 25 Candidates from Australia and New Zealand enjoyed an interactive program which covered topics ranging from financial management to complex problem solving.

In the Personally Arranged Learning Session (PEARLS) the candidates were able to tap into the extensive and varied management expertise of their peers to solve current, real management problems that they were working through. The solutions presented by the groups were creative and insightful. This session and a series of group discussions of management scenarios were identified as most useful and enjoyable.

The workshop dinner gave the candidates an opportunity to meet with Fellows from the NSW and QLD Committees and the RACMA President, Roger Boyd.

The candidates valued the opportunity to view problems from a variety of different perspectives and to network with their peers. Many developed relationships to assist them in their progress through the Accelerated Pathway with more than one study group created. It was agreed that the workshop served as a successful introduction to the Accelerated Pathway and the College.
