{mosimage}Best wishes for the New Year. On behalf of the CEP committee, I would like to welcome you to a new RACMA CEP year. I would also like to thank all Fellows and Associate Fellows who completed the CEP surveys performed late in 2010. We are currently collating the results and will provide feedback to all RACMA members, in March 2011, following the next meeting of the Board of Directors.

The CEP Committee has a number of priorities for 2011, however the most pressing of those is to ensure all Fellows and Associate Fellows have logged their CEP activities for 2010 by March 31 2011. Currently compliance is only around 57%, which puts many Fellows at significant risk of failing an audit by the Medical Board of Australia. We aspire to achieve a 100% participation in the RACMA CEP program by March 31st this year.

e-CEP annual and triennial certification.

Maintenance of CEP is a requirement of the Medical Board of Australia for maintenance of specialist registration, and of the College for maintenance of good standing. The Medical Board has indicated that they intend to audit medical practitioners for proof of compliance with CEP.

In order to assist this process, RACMA has institituted electronic CEP, which makes it easy for all Fellows, Associate Fellows and Affiliates to log activities online. We have moved to an annual cycle over a calendar year. There is the capacity to save evidence of CEP activities onto the RACMA website which will be extremely useful in the event of an audit.

The annual cycle follows the calendar year. All CEP activities for the calendar year must be logged by March 31 of the following year. Hence for the 2010 calendar year, all CEP activities must be logged by 31 March 2011 in order to receive an annual certificate for 2010. Annual certificates will be distributed electronically in May of this year.

The triennium is also being maintained. This is the sum of three annual CEP cycles and is expected to have a peer review activity included in the three years. The triennium dates will be standardised, with the 2011-13 triennium, commencing for all members on 1 Jan 2011. At the end of this three year period, triennial certificates will be issued to all participants.

e-CEP participation rates 57% for 2010 - still time to improve.

e-CEP has now been running for over 3 years. Over that time the processes have been streamlined and on-line support improved. Despite this and the requirement from the Medical Board for CEP as a prerequisite for registration, CEP participation rates are around 57% for Fellows and even lower for Associate Fellows. This is extremely disappointing and somewhat of an embarrassment to the College in our AMC accreditation. Refer to the attached tables for further information.

Go on line and log activities on e-CEP - goal 100% compliance by March 31.

The CEP committee is calling on all Fellows and Associate Fellows to ensure their 2010 activities are logged by 31 March. State CEP coordinators will be contacting Fellows and offering assistance.
