Terms of Reference

Purpose

The Continuing Education Program (CEP) Committee is responsible for development of policy and procedures to guide the development and implementation of the Continuing Education Program, to establish the educational platform, curriculum and related competency frameworks, to monitor key indicators and to routinely evaluate the program and its procedures.

The Continuing Education Program Committee is part of the formal governance and committee structure of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators


Objectives

The objectives of the College’s Continuing Education Program Committee are to:
  • Establish, develop, enhance and review the Continuing Education Program educational platform, including development of the Continuing Education Program curriculum and related competency frameworks and revision of the Continuing Education Program Manual
  • Develop the policy and procedure framework that guides the development and implementation of the Continuing Education Program, and to establish process for routine review of Continuing Education Program policies and procedures, the relevant sections of the Colleges internet, and the Continuing Education Program business rules
  • Monitor key indicators including participation in the Continuing Education Program via certification rates, including oversight of the Annual Audit of participation in the Continuing Education Program coordinated by the National Secretariat
  • Evaluate the Continuing Education Program via mechanisms such as the Annual Continuing Education Program Survey, through seeking feedback from Fellows and members
  • Ensure that the College remains aware of current knowledge base relating to professional issues relevant to the continuing education of medical managers
  • Provide oversight to the College’s Mentoring Program, including development of policy and procedures, monitoring of involvement and outcomes, and promotion to new Fellows and Fellows as potential mentors
  • Provide oversight to the procedures around orientation of new Fellows, including reviewing information provided by National Secretariat to new Fellows each year
  • Provide advice and support to the National Director Continuing Education/Recertification in relation to the Continuing Education Program and related matters
  • Provide high level advice and recommendations to Council and Council Executive on the Continuing Education Program and related matters

Membership

The Continuing Education Program Committee is chaired by the National Director, Continuing Education /Recertification, and includes the local CEP Coordinators in each of the jurisdictions, as well as New Zealand and Hong Kong.

Committee support is provided by the National Secretariat.


Reporting Relationships

The Continuing Education Program Committee is established as part of the formal College committee structure, and provides advice and support to the National Director Continuing Education/Recertification, who is a member of Council and Council Executive. The recommendations of the Continuing Education Program Committee are forwarded by the National Director directly to Council for approval.

Internal communications of the Continuing Education Program Committee include the provision of a written report to each meeting of the Council and Council Executive, which is also provided to members of the Continuing Education Program Committee, who provide this information to their respective state/territory/New Zealand/Hong Kong committees.

An Annual Report on the Continuing Education Program is provided to the annual meeting of the Board of Training and Continuing Education for information.


Meetings

The Continuing Education Program Committee meets at least five times per year. At least one face-to-face meeting is held each year, usually at the College’s National Conference, and the remainder of meetings are via teleconference.
